Running

I've been running lately. Not a whole mile or anything lengthy like that, but 1/4 a mile here and there. Best to start slow with these things. Especially if the last time you ran was High School nearly 10 years ago (darn physical fitness tests). Tonight after taking Molly out to "go potty" I decided to take her for a walk down the street which turned into a jog. Usually she's the one pulling me to go faster on our walks, but I was moving much faster than her little legs were used to going. She loved every minute. Now I fear she'll expect the same speed with every walk - but that may be a good thing.

I was late for work this morning. On the way back from the Davis' yesteray we hit a HUGE pothole in the road. Well this morning the car was handling really funny, so we decided to pull over at a garage. They discovered that we bent the rim on our front tire. Great way to start off a monday. My friend Caren came and picked me up and took me to work while Andy stayed behind and waited. Luckilly the bill only came to $20.

I have a few friends that need a lot of prayer. I get overwhelmed everytime I think of their situations. I have to keep telling myself that our God is a big, big God.

Well i'm off. The December issue came in the mail today (squeal!).

Sunday

Andy and Amanda at the Davis'

We had a great day today! Susan Dyer was the guest speaker at church. I love her. She is such a gifted speaker. She spoke on the heart of God. It was very enlightening. I feel challenged, and thats always good.

We had our Operation Christmas Child party today. We had a great turnout and filled a lot of boxes. Hurray!

Have a wonderful week.

Wicked Weather

Today is the perfect day to curl up with a good book and homemade hot chocolate. It's cold, wet and windy out. We've already lost power twice and its barely noon. I might be crazy, but I secretly love loosing power. I love lighting candles and bundling up near a window. It's very Little House on the Praire - log cabin and all.

We had a lovely time with our friends on thursday. To my horror, they are renovating Panera so we ended up going to Eggspectations one of my favorite resturants. They serve gourmet breakfast. It's fabulous. I had Eggs benedict with spinach and grueyer, and Andy had the lobster omlet. Well worth the extra few $.

One Night with the King was pretty good. It deviated from the bible quite a bit, but the overall plot was the same. The Kings wardrobe looked like it came straight from the Delta Burke Palm Beach collection. That was a litle scary! He was also slathered from head-to-toe in baby oil. Personally, i'd wait for the video!

Well we're on our way out to go shopping. We need to get stuff to fill our boxes for Operation Christmas Child. We have a stuffing party with friends from church tomorrow. I also have to assemble the stuffed shells. Yum!

This and That

I had my first experience with Egg Beaters this morning. They come highly recommended because they are only 1 point. A chicken egg is two points not including any spray/butter you use to cook it in. I made a valiant effort, but I will never eat eggs from a box again. I much rather cut back on other things throughout the day then have to consume styrofoam. Gross.

Tonight Andy and I are going to Panera with our friends Aaron and Kelly. Then we are going to go see One Night with the King. I've been trying to see that movie for three weeks now, things just keep coming up!

We have a fairly quiet weekend ahead of us, and for that I am glad. I have tomorrow off (as well as all Fridays), so after Bible Study and the gym in the morning, I have the rest of the day to clean and cook a nice a dinner. I'm very much looking forward to it. After reading her blog, I'm drying to make a nice roast chicken. Yum!

Saturday Andy and I are going to the Temple across the street from our church. We've been invited to take the Hebrew class they are offering. Should be interesting!

Sunday after church we have a "stuffing party" for Operation Christmas Child. A bunch of people are getting together from church to stuff and wrap boxes. Of course, we're also having a potluck dinner. I'm still not sure what I’m going to make. We are having an Italian theme, so I’m leaning toward Stuffed Shells. It's one of my favorite recipes from Cooking Light.

Well the work day is about to begin for me. Have a blessed day!

We are the Body

Ephesians 4:15-16
[15] But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: [16] From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Sabbath

Andy and I helped with the teens yesterday. They are raising money for Superbowl 2006 by doing odd jobs around the house for people in church. Starting at 8am we stacked a cord of wood, then raked, and raked and raked, and finally finished with washing windows. We had two of the girls: Chelsey and Samantha who we treated to Chinese
food for lunch. They did a great job. We are all looking forward to having a good time at Superbowl (Andy and I are chaperoning).

You can see all of the pictures here!

We've been really busy this week with meetings. Today i'm trying to catch up on housework, so we can do it all over again tomorrow!

I'm trying this for dinner tonight! Only 6 points!

Well i'm off to do laundry, dishes and get caught up on my reading! Have a wonderful, restful Sunday.

Also - I need ideas for Christmas bulletin boards at church.

Busy

Life is moving very fast these days.

I joined Curves yesterday. They waived the $150 joining fee because it's breast cancer awarness month, and you get free membership if you've had a breast exam in the last year. Hurray! My first day actually working out is today. I'm going right after work. From there I have to pick up Andy, we have to eat dinner really quick and then go back to church for Leadership Training. We won't get home until 9pm!

Friday night and all day Saturday we're helping out with Youth Group, and Sunday after church I have a children's church meeting. Ahh!

The goal
Proverbs 31:17
She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.

Picture post

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday! We took the dog to Ferry Beach State Park today to admire the foliage. What a gorgeous day!

Here are some pictures:

The path to the beach. It's about 2 miles long and leads to the ocean. What could be better?

This and That

A gentle tongue can break a bone. Proverbs 25:15
A gentle answer turns away wrath. Proverbs 15:1

I've been reading a lot lately about how to "fight" like a girl. Proverbs 25:15 sounds like a weak answer, but there is abundant power in words we speak and ones we don't. I've been trying to hold my tongue and let God lead. It's a little scary to walk by faith instead of fear. But God knows our weaknesses even before we tell him .... "before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear (Isaiah 65:24)".

In other news:
- No baby yet! My SIL got sent home from the hospital. She is very discouraged, but hopefully soon!

- I've lost 6lbs this week doing WW. Who knew this could happen?

- I just gave Molly a bath. I got much wetter than she.

- We rented The Lake House tonight. Is it any good?

- One Night with the King (The story of Ester) is playing in theaters starting tomorrow! I want to go!

- I talked with an old friend from MA last night. It's so good to reconnect with people. I miss Boston.

New baby

My sister-in-law Nicole is in labor right now! I'm so excited to be an aunt again. It's so hard to be 8-hours away though. Thank you Lord for digital cameras.

In other news, I joined Weight Watchers this week. So far it's going really well.

Odom's Baby Shower

Today after church we had a shower for my friend Kelly. I've been planning it for weeks, and am glad to say it went off without a hitch. Kelly got many new cute things for Baby O who is due to arrive in December. I can't wait to meet him!

Andy took the dog up to his mothers yesterday so I could have a chance to clean the house and make lasagne for the shower. It was a nice relaxing Saturday. Andy helped his Mom with fall clean up. Her broken arm is still healing from her fall in August.

Andy has the day off tomorrow, but I have to go to work. The injustice of this world. I have a big pile of laundry for him to tackle though!

Pastor Reed, my pastor from "home' had a triple bipass on Wednesday. My father called today with the news. He made it through surgery ok (his son Chris assisted...handy to have a surgeon for a son!). He's not out of the woods yet though - you know it's bad when you get transported to Syracuse. Back home thats code for "The Good Samaritan in Watertown can't handle it - bring in the big guns".

Jehovah Raffa, Lord who heals please bring fast recovery to Pastor Reed. Be with his wife, Carol and son Chris. Help them to look to you for strength. Lord, be with the doctors and nurses in Syracuse. Give them wisdom when making decisions. Father thank you for your faithfulness and power to heal. Amen.

Tired

We've been shopping around for a new feather bed this week. Only to come up empty handed. Our's is getting warn, and neither of us have been getting a good night sleep lately. Ultimately we need a new bed, but I don't want to fork over $1000 for a new one just yet. I'm so cheap.

Raspberry turnovers are cooking in the oven. We had a very light dinner tonight because I haven't gone grocery shopping in three weeks. Ugh. I hate walmart.

Our friends from church delivered their 5th baby last night: Annah Joy was born this morning at 12AM. I'm looking for something glueten free and yummy to make for the family. Their 3rd, Rachel, is allergic to gluetens, which I found out today are in everything.

Well, I must go my guilt pleasure is on right now (survivor!).

Cold

It's been freezing here for the last few weeks. The office in our church is in the basement so i've been combating the LOH (lack of heat) by drinking several cups of hot chocolate during the day. Surely calories don't count when your cold.

We usually "gate" the dog in the kitchen during the day, but today we rocked her world by allowing her the entire downstairs. I'm scared to go home today.

Ha... look at that I can see my breath.

Burr.
