What a day!

We just got back from Hinkley State Park. We didnt' realize it, but it was actually a dog park! Molly had a blast. She even went in the lake! We also decided to go back to Portland Headlight and walk the trails. It was only three miles away, and we love it there. I think we walked over 10 miles today, its nap time now!

Questions

I’m glad she went home last night. It was time. He is still my favorite. Although, he is definitely over the top!

On another note, I received a Hyacinth for Easter. The flowers have since died, but I was wondering if they will grow back? Or is it a blooming once a year kind of deal? If so, how/can I transfer the bulbs outside?

Photo ramble

I'm home sick today curled up in bed with hot water bottles. I hate days like this.

Anyway, I took a break from feeling sorry for myself, so I thought I would post some photos:

These are everywhere in Maine. Luckily this is not, and will not be part of our home decor. Martha would not approve.

We are looking forward to warm weather, so we can go out on this. I wonder how Molly will do boating?

I have had just about enough of this and its only April!

We are planning several trip up here (Acadia) this summer. Anyone want to go with us?

If you can't eat 'em, wear them!

How cute is my Mom? She's deep sea fishing in this picture.

I found this picture a few weeks ago. It's a memory, from childhood. Fond? I'm not sure. We all look a little beat up, but it was one of the many camping trips we took when I was a kid. I didn't appreciate them much then (never been a big fan of dirt or sleeping on the ground), but I do now as I look back on the fun we did have. Note the NKOTB sweatshirt I was rocking. Hehe. I was so cool.

Ramblings

Andy and I are traveling to Northern New York in a few weeks to celebrate Mother’s Day with my parents. I can’t wait to go. We haven’t been to the “North Country” since my sister Katie graduated last June. It’s hard to travel during winter because the weather is so unpredictable up there. I remember one Christmas we had to drive back to Massachusetts on Christmas Eve because the forecast called for a three day blizzard starting Christmas morning. Andy’s job, at the time, would not tolerate excuses such as being snowed in. We are so blessed that he is now in a place that gives him four weeks of vacation, but that also has flex hours. God is faithful.

Molly spent yesterday in her crate while we were at work because of the whole chewing-the-leg-on-my-china-cabinet thing. Grrh. Today she is back in the kitchen, but I sprayed bitter apple on everything wood. Hopefully she’ll get the hint.

Sunday night Andy and I attended the 101 Introduction class to The Rock Church. It was a little rudimentary, because we’ve been Christians for years, but we got to see the structure of the church and how things work. We really love it! It was a long search, but I’m glad we waited until we found were God wants us. In a couple weeks we are going to attend the Crown Financial class. You can read about that organization here. It looks good!

American Idol is on tonight! I can’t wait! Now that Ace is gone, I’m not sure whom I want to go home though.

If and when...

If and when we have children, we will be homeschooling. This is one of the major reasons.

Dreadful

Andy and I had date night last night. We went out for dinner at the Log Cabin restaurant in OOB. Andy got the twin lobsters (he’s been whining for lobster since all the seasonal restaurants started opening back up), and I had the brisket. It was really good!

Then we went home and watched The Weather Man together. Not a terribly good movie by any means, but entertaining.

Today however….
I'm in a horrible mood…

I woke up mad, and unready to face the day. It's always great to start a weekend out like that isn't it?

We recently discovered that our dog, chewed the bottom leg of my china cabinet. I should have stayed in bed.

I went to make a grilled ham and cheese sandwich for lunch and found the ham unpacked in the ball of grocery bags I put away last Wednesday. I should have stayed in bed.

My FIL and his other bought a new dog, and they are naming it the SAME name as our dog - Miss Molly. Anyone else find this extremely weird? Like, is their a shortage of names in the world? Why do you have to use ours? We see them all the time. I should have stayed in bed.

My eyes are itchy and swollen and my nose is stuffed up from allergies. I’m going to bed!

I voted!-

I actually voted last night. Once for Katharyn, and twice for Taylor. Hehe.

I'm working on fishing some craft projects I've picked up and put down over the years. I want to try to get at least a few things done, before I start on a new one.

So far I have to finish: A scarf (3/4 done), a baby blanet, and a cross stitch scene that i've been working on since I was 15. I think I'll start on the scarf!

Back to Life, Back to Reality

I hate going back to work after a holiday. I cannot seam to focus on anything on my desk, so I decided to blog!

We had a great Easter weekend. Friday night Andy and I bought a gazebo for the cookout we were having on Saturday. Unfortunately it rained Saturday night, but we still got to enjoy it here and there throughout the weekend. Now I want this and this though.
In time.

My neighbor Rota tilled my garden this weekend, so I’m dying to plant my vegetable garden. Tentatively, we are going to plant: green beans, snap peas, rhubarb, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash and some flowers (gladiolas and zinnias). I can’t wait for consistently warmer weather!

Andy’s mom came down on Saturday for a cookout. Then we all watched the remake of The Ten Commandments that was on ABC the week before. It was really, really good!

Sunday we had a lovely Easter service at The Rock Church. Even Andy’s Mom seamed to enjoy it. I love that Pastor Eric is from Upstate NY.

Easter dinner went well. I overcooked the ham and scalloped potatoes, but other than that it was perfect.

Now we’ll have leftover nights, Woohoo!

Happy Easter

Here the bells ringing
They’re singing that you can be born again
Here the bells ringing
They’re singing christ is risen from the dead

The angel up on the tombstone
Said he has risen, just as he said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That jesus christ is no longer dead

Joy to the word, he has risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah

Hear the bells ringing
They’re singing that you can be healed right now
Hear the bells ringing, they’re singing
Christ, he will reveal it now

The angels, they all surround us
And they are ministering jesus’ power
Quickly now, reach out and receive it
For this could be your glorious hour

Joy to the world, he has risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah, hallelujah

The angel up on the tombstone
Said he has risen, just as he said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That jesus christ is no longer dead

Joy to the world, he has risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
He’s risen, hallelujah
Hallelujah

Jew and Gentile one in Yeshua....

Happy Passover!

Andy and I had the pleasure of attending a church that has a deep love for the Jewish people. Consequently across the street from that church stands a Jewish temple. The love of Jesus enabled us to come together for this: Comfort my People 2006. If you have the chance to go, do it!

I've been reading through the gospels this week reading about "The Easter Story". This is my favorite holiday, and time of year. I can't wait for Sunday.

I'm cooking Easter dinner this year. Andy's Mom is going to go to The Rock Church with us. Hopefully it won't be too charasmatic for her, she is after all Baptist. Hehe.

The one compromise I did have to make, besides not going home to see my family in NY is what we are having for dinner. Ham was a staple in our house growing up for Easter. Andy however doesn't like Ham, so we are compromising. I'm making Pot Roast and Ham and scalloped potatoes (Also salad, green beans w/ slivered almonds, cresent rolls, and Angel Lush Cake). Should be good.

I have tomorrow off, so I can clean the house, and start baking. Should be a good weekend!

Happy Easter!

Palm Sunday

Matthew 20:29 - As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30: Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"
(click on the verse to read more)

We had a great weekend!

Saturday morning we got up early and cleaned the house a little bit. Then we went to Lewiston to meet Andy's Dad, his Girlfriend Cathy, and his Aunt Carol. It was Andy's Dad's 57th birthday, so we all celebrated at Tin Tin, his favorite Chinese resturant. The food is not all that good, but he loves it!

After lunch we went back to Aunt Carol's. They had just put in a sunroom, so she wanted to show everyone. It turned out really well. I would love a room with that much light for all my plants. Someday.

Yesterday we went to a new church, The Rock of Portland. It was so good. We are so encourged to go back. Hopefully this is the church were God want's us. I counted 16 young couples!

In the afternoon we took a long walk on the beach at Ocean Park. It was so cold near the water, but Molly loves running on the beach. I finally remembered to bring her ball, so she really enjoyed that!

The Bishops Daughter came out this week. I can't wait to pick it up tonight! If you haven't read any of the series, I highly recommend them.

We watched Memoirs of a Geisha last night. I wasn't expecting much because I really have no interest in this sort of thing, but it came highly recommened by friends. To my suprise it was really good. They're was no nudity which was unexpected especially because of the content. The life of a Geisha is not an easy one though.

Busy, Busy

Yesterday was such a busy day. My boss got back from a four-day conference and just dumped piles on my desk. I'm also trying to figure how to work the new software I ordered: Microsoft Publisher. I'm trying to create online newsletters. I think I may install it at home and have Andy help me out. He excels at the techie stuff.

I can't believe Mandisa went home last night. Although the last song she sang (Any Man of Mine) wasn't her best. She is a Christian though! I hope she continues to sing Christian music. We shall see.

It's 8am, and I haven't had my coffee yet, but I'm at work, and there is a man in an orange jacket staring at me in my 2nd story window. Apparently they are hauling sheet rock via crane up to the third floor. Consequently they have positioned this thing to not only block the entire driveway, but also square in front of the two windows I look directly out. Anyway, Bob (I know his name is Bob, it's on his shirt!) keeps staring at me, perhaps it's because I keep looking out the window. Must look away.

It snowed here yesterday, one of the many injustices the world has to offer. There is nothing worse than snow in April. Well perhaps snow in May.

Barlow Girl

I love this song. You have to get this album

"I Need You To Love Me"
Why, why are You still here with me
Didn't You see what I've done?
In my shame I want to run and hide myself
But it's here I see the truth
I don't deserve You

But I need You to love me, and I
I won't keep my heart from You this time
And I'll stop this pretending that I can
Somehow deserve what I already have

I need You to love me
I, I have wasted so much time
Pushing You away from me
I just never saw how You could cherish me
'Cause You're a God who has all things
And still You want me

Your love makes me forget what I have been
Your love makes me see who I really am
Your love makes me forget what I have been

It’s only 9:40 in the morning, and I can barely stay awake. The time change this weekend has really screwed up my sleep pattern. I was so not ready for the alarm to go off this morning. Ugh.

We had a lovely weekend. Friday night we stayed in and watched Chicken Little. It was OK. Not the animated masterpiece I was hoping for, but still funny. Saturday we did some spring-cleaning. Andy was in charge of the living room. He did a pretty good job; he even vacuumed under the couches. Progress.

We met Linda (Andy’s Mom) at Cinemagic in Portland in the afternoon. We planned on watching Ice Age II and then going out to dinner, but the theater was so packed we opted to go out for lunch first and then catch a later showing. We took her to Eggspectations, and she loved it! I can’t get enough of that place. It is a little overpriced though. I paid $10 for eggs, ham & French toast. Ouch.

We did end up watching Ice Age II, around 5pm. The movie was pretty good. They did use two “swear” words so that was a little distressing. I wouldn’t let my kid watch it that is for sure. It’s too bad that even a Disney movie is corrupt with words of this world. Blah.

*Christian Review of Ice Age II*

As far as the weather goes, the weekend was beautiful. We spent a lot of time outside with the dog. She loves it outside. We have a long tie out for her, but she whines if we leave her alone, so Andy sat out there in the sun with her for a while. We also have discovered that we have ducks and ducklings in our little pond! They are so cute. We are only able to see them with binoculars though, because they hiss at us if we get to close. That doesn’t stop Molly from trying though J

We ended up missing church yesterday because of the time change. We got up, showered and started walking to the garage when we realized we forgot to set the clocks ahead. How annoying. We did take advantage of the beautiful day though by taking the dog to the beach. It was a nice day for that, but boy was I tired when we got home! I have to get used to all this fresh air. We all took a mini nap on the bed in the spare bedroom. The dog passed out within seconds, but Andy and I listed to the peepers in our pond. Peepers are baby frogs, we have about 1 billion of them, and I love every one of them. We didn’t have those sounds in the city, and they remind me of my grandparents house when I was little. They live way out in the country. How fun.

This week is going to be great. It’s a four-day week for me (I work 4-5 days per week, every other Friday), and my boss is out of town today and tomorrow, so it will be really easy days. Woohoo!

Andy’s brother and sister-in-law announced they are having their first baby in November. This is the first grandchild on the Wheeler side. How exciting! We are trying to find them a cool baby gift. Any ideas?

Well I’m off to clip coupons. Check out Boodle!
